What AppLock is, and what it is not
AppLock is a convenience lock. Your vault files and intruder photos are kept in the app's private internal storage, where other apps cannot reach them, but they are not encrypted at rest, and your PIN is stored as a one-way hash rather than used as an encryption key. It is designed to keep casual snoopers out of your phone — it is not designed to withstand forensic tools or someone with physical access and technical skill.
We say this plainly here because we would rather you know than assume. It is the same reason the app itself makes no encryption claims.
Privacy in one paragraph
AppLock has no accounts, no login and no backend of ours. Your locked-app list, vault contents, intruder photos and PIN never leave your device. The app is free and supported by ads, so the Google AdMob and Firebase SDKs inside it do collect advertising and diagnostic data — including your advertising ID and an approximate, IP-derived location. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent before any of that happens. The privacy policy spells out exactly what is collected and by whom.
