Common questions
The lock screen does not appear when I open a locked app
Almost always a permission or a battery setting. Check that Usage access and Display over other apps are still granted, and exempt AppLock from battery optimisation. Several manufacturers — Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Samsung — have an extra "autostart" or "protected app" list; AppLock has to be in it or the system will stop the lock service.
I forgot my PIN
We cannot reset it and we cannot recover your vault. Your PIN is stored only as a one-way hash, so nobody — including us — can read it back. If you set a security question during setup, use it on the login screen. Otherwise the only way forward is to clear the app's storage, which deletes the vault along with everything else.
I paid but Premium is not active
Open the store screen in the app and tap Restore purchases, making sure you are signed into the same Google account you bought with. If a payment is still pending Google approval, the app will grant it automatically once it clears. If it still does not appear, email us with your Google Play order number.
Where did my keys go?
Keys live on the device, not in your Google account, so they do not follow you to a new phone or survive clearing the app's storage. Purchased Premium does — restore it with Restore purchases.
How do I cancel a subscription?
In the Google Play app: profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → AppLock → Cancel. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
Is my vault encrypted?
No, and we would rather say so than let you assume otherwise. Vault files live in AppLock's private internal storage, which other apps cannot read, but they are not encrypted at rest. It keeps people out of your phone; it does not defeat forensic tools or a rooted device.
